Become an Installation Contractor

Asphalt Systems, Inc. is eager to partner with qualified contractors interested in specializing in the installation of GSB-88®. Below is more information on the storage requirements needed to safely house GSB-88®, basic application instructions, and a list of the equipment needed to successfully apply the product.

Tips for storing Green GSB-88®®

  • Store GSB-88®® in 7000-gallon, heated, vertical storage tanks. Hot water heating coils, electrical coils, or electrical heaters are acceptable to avoid freezing the material.
  • Use mechanical agitation with slow revolution
  • For long-term storage, keep GSB-88®® concentrate between 100 and 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Positive displacement gear pumps should be used to transfer and apply the material. While long-term storage for GSB-88® concentrate is appropriate, it is not recommended for diluted GSB-88®.
  • Vertical storage tanks should be clean before adding GSB-88®.
  • Because GSB-88® is a cationic emulsion, it cannot be mixed with an anionic emulsion or the chemical emulsion bond will break.

Tips for applying Green GSB-88®

Distributor truck requirements:

  • GSB-88® can be applied with standard bituminous distributors.
  • Distributors must be able to pass state DOT requirements for certification and application. All equipment must be in good working condition.
  • GSB-88® is a cationic emulsion. Distributor tanks must be free of any anionic emulsion traces.
  • The tank must be clean and have no contaminants of diluents.
  • Spreader bar tips must be clean to allow even flow of the material.
  • Recommended tip sizes are 0 or 1.
  • A triple overlap pattern is recommended for even application.
  • When applying GSB-88®, the speed of the distributor truck should not exceed 5-8 miles per hour.
  • All distributor trucks should be pressure tested for leaks before application of GSB-88®.
